1. SCOPE
The following details the fulfillment of Singapore Standard specifications for STARTANK fiberglass reinforced polyester (FRP) sectional tanks.
2. PANEL COMPOSITION
2.1 Unsaturated Polyester Resin
STARTANK panels are produced from commercial-grade resin which meets the technical requirements stripulatedin BS 3532.
2.2. Glass Reinforcement
STARTANK panels incorporate low aklali glass which conforms to BS 3496 and BS 3749 specifications.
2.2.1 Chopped strand mat made from chopped commercial-grade E-type glass strands bonded together using a binder (BS 3496).
2.2.2 Woven Roving fabrics of E-glass fibre (BS 3749).
3. PANEL SIZES
3.1 STARTANK external panel sizes are available in 1m x 1m and 1m x 0.5m, with tolerance of ±0.3%. Panel thickness ranges from 5mm to 12mm.
3.2 STARTANK panels are manufactured with a single flangeat an angle of 90° to the face of the panel on each of the two, three or four sides.
4. TANK CAPACITY
STARTANK tank capacity ranges from 1000 litres to 1600000 litres, with a maximum tank depth of 4m.
5. TANK CONSTRUCTION
5.1 STARTANK water tanks are designed to ably support expected loads.
5.2 STARTANK panles are bolted closely together and high quality sealing materials are used for water tightness at bolted joints.
5.3 STARTANK water tanks are provided with at least one manhole of not less than 0.6m (inside diameter), having a rigid, tight fitting cover securely fixed in position and with a lock. Unwanted elementssuch as outside water, insects and/or any foreign matter are prevented from entering the tanks.
5.4 STARTANK water tanks are provided with inlets, outlets, overflows, drains and air vents.
5.5 STARTANK water tanksare designed and installed in total compliance to all relevant statuory requirements.
6. BOLTS and NUTS
6.1 All bolts and nuts used on STARTANK comply with ISO 898-1 and ISO 898-2.
6.2 Bolts and nuts for the assembly of panels and exposed externally are hot dip galvanized to meet the requirements of MS 740:1981.
6.3 Bolts and nuts that are in contact with the stored water or exposed to the air space above the waterline are made of stainless steel or other ono-toxic corrosion resistant materials.
6.4 Diameter of blots used are not less than 10mm.
7. SEALING MATERIALS
The sealing materials used are non-toxic and coform to SS 375:1994 specifications which state that materials used must be chemically resistant to and preserve the quality of stored water intended for human consumption.
8. PANEL SUPPORT
8.1 STARTANK panels are supported internally and externally by a strong support system.
8.2 External support elements are hot dip galvanized whilst internal supports consist of stainless steel, uPVC or other corrosion resistant materials.
NOTE: External support system helps to minimise corrosion problems and provides ease of access for maintenance.
9. STEEL FOUNDATION
The steel foundation for water tanks are of crassed girder type and capable of fixing each bottom pnel at the periphery. Every tank is supported on a rigid and firm paltform cpable of withstanding the full weight of the tank filled with water to the rim.
10. MARKING
Every STARTANK water tank is permanently and legibly marked as follows:
(a) Manufacturer's name. mark or initial.
(b) Manufacturer's serial number.
(c) The date of manufacture.
(d) Tank depth.
(e) Maximum gross capacity (m3)
